It’s June! And we are excited to share what’s new.
Same great content, new look!
Heads up! We have decided to give our newsletter a new look.

We’ve separated content by the program area it relates to (e.g., check out Project Birthday Party under Community Engagement) and in other Opportunities to Get Involved.

Thanks to our team, we will also be giving our website a makeover. Check it out and tell us how we can improve it.

Community Engagement
Project Birthday Party

Volunteer with NxtGov at our June event, Project Birthday Party!

When: Saturday, June 30, 12:00 – 2:00 PM
Where: Salvation Army – E. Claire Raley Transitional Living Center, 3845 Annadale Lane, Sacramento, CA 95821

Join us as we host a birthday party for kids in need! The mission of Project Birthday is to brighten and celebrate the lives of those in need by providing birthday parties and gifts to children living in shelters and transitional housing throughout the Sacramento area. We have the opportunity to partner with this great organization by organizing and hosting our own party!

Your help is needed to plan the event, bring supplies, provide birthday gifts, and play games with the kids at the party. We have lots more to bring and plan, so please contact meagantokunaga@gmail.com if you can provide supplies or attend the event!

Professional Development

The NxtGov Professional Development Committee is looking to identify membership needs in the area of professional development. Have ideas for professional development events or tools that could help our members develop as professionals in public service? Give us your ideas for what you’d like to see, and stay tuned for exciting events and opportunities to come.

Recruitment

NxtGov has partnered with various organizations to administer Demystifying State Jobs or How to Get a State Job 101 workshops and speaking engagements to encourage civic-minded people and young adults to consider a career in public service. As these partnerships continue to grow, we hope to promote internship and mentorship opportunities. Learn more about the Recruitment Program by clicking here!
