Did you know up to 1 million Californians lack access to safe drinking water? Californian state entities and other partners launched a summer data challenge to try to tackle this problem.

More volunteer opportunities! The Community Engagement Committee plans to add reoccurring volunteer events in addition to our bimonthly planned events. To determine which organization to partner with on an ongoing basis, we have two August events planned. Join our committee to help us plan!

NxtGov Volunteers at the Sac Food Bank and Family Shelter

When: Wednesday, August 22, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Where: Family Services Campus
3333 Third Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95817Please join us for an evening of service with the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services! NxtGov will support this organization’s clothing program, which distributes clothing to those in need.

Volunteers are needed to help with sorting clothing, organizing the program area, and helping shoppers with finding items.

We are in need volunteers and would love to have you participate in this evening of service. So please contact Sergy El-Morshedy at sergyelmorshedy@gmail.com if you want to lend a hand, or if you would like to be notified about similar volunteer activities in the future!

Alchemy CDC Stand at Midtown Farmers Market

 

When: Saturday, August 18, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Where: 20th Street between J and L StreetsAlchemist CDC operates CalFresh processing at multiple farmers’ markets. The CalFresh program offers qualifying lower income individuals financial assistance in purchasing food for themselves and their families. Farmers’ Markets are a great asset to communities, and can lead to improved health for area residents. By making it easier for lower-income populations to purchase food at farmers’ markets, these community assets will become more equitable and accessible to all individuals. If you like meeting new people and hanging out at the farmers’ market, this is a great opportunity to do that, while making farmers’ markets a more equitable resource for low-income populations.

 Managing your Boss Workshop Takeaways

NxtGov and Upgrade Training joined forces to provide a series of workshops that make careers in the civil sector easier, more effective, and ultimately more rewarding.

This first workshop was a combination educational and networking event where participants learned about different types of difficult bosses. We are exploring other training themes.
