How can you mobilize across generations to transform public service?

What is next for this mobilizing force?

(3 of 3) A year ago, we hosted an election to fill key one year term positions. The 2018-19 NxtGov Leadership and Executive Team have been working hard to create a model that will ensure we continue to build a sustainable effort.

To that end, we will be rolling out a new governance structure along with our Bylaws. This new structure builds on last year by adding a Membership Officer Position to NxtGov’s Board and establishing the current Executive Team as a Council underneath the Board.

Effective January 2020, the Board will officially operate to guide the organization into a nonprofit. The current Executive Team will operate as an appointed Council of the board.

Board Position– Election of Membership Officer

This will be the first Board position elected by all our members under this new structure.

We believe our members are the heart of our organization.

This is why it is critical to expand their representation and influence by establishing the role of a Membership Officer that can focus on member needs and development. The Membership Officer will represent the interests of all members and actively demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as establishing and maintaining a membership code of conduct that creates and supports the safe environment that we strive to create for our members.

As we establish ourselves as a nonprofit 501(c)6, the Membership Officer will be a key influencer in determining how and when NxtGov will create revenue through a membership fee model. This exciting step will enable the organization to develop a formal budget and expand our operations, and will occur following IRS certification  and receiving feedback from our members.

For board descriptions and duties you can refer to section IV of our bylaws.

Council Positions– Nominations

The Director Positions will go through a public nomination process and be approved by the Board.

We accepted nominations for open Council positions from 10/11/19-11/8/19. The Executive Council drives the core program areas of NxtGov and the Membership Council will lead all membership affairs and the NxtGov Ambassador Program.

The following roles encompass the Councils:

We would be happy to arrange one-on-ones with anyone interested in learning more.
