NxtGov February News

We’ve got some exciting announcements to share.

Happy Birthday to NxtGov!
A special message from our founder, Angelica Quirarte.
A year ago we launched NxtGov with the mission to redefine the meaning of public service and break the silos of government that impede us from adapting to a changing world. We never imagined that we’d start a movement of movers and shakers across all sectors! We are deeply inspired by the level of engagement you’ve each given and look forward to continuing to work with you to INSPIRE others to COLLABORATE and bring pride back into public SERVICE!
Join us Thursday, February 22!

We’re excited to welcome representatives from NeoGov to be our guests at our February happy hour. NeoGov works with governments across the country and would like to network with NxtGov members and exchange experiences.

Through the annual Youth and Government conference, NxtGov will speak to hundreds of high school students visiting Sacramento through two panels. The topic of our panels is your experience working for the state and the work you do to improve civil service. Why does civil service matter? How does state government improve the lives of Californians?

If you are interested in being on the panel or would like to help coordinate, contact our community engagement lead, Meagan Tokunaga, by clicking below.

Redesigning the Individual Development Plan Form
In your civil service experience, have you ever filled out an Individual Development Plan (IDP)? If so, was it useful? IDPs are intended for staff professional development. As part of the ongoing Civil Service Improvement Initiative, GovOps Secretary Batjer is inviting NxtGov to assess the form and provide recommendations for redesign and improvement. We will be forming a working group and conducting sessions in late February and early March. If you’re interested in learning more about this, please contact Angie at angelica.quirarte@govops.ca.gov.
